Monday 26th – Wednesday 28th September – Meet OpSoc at Fresher’s Fayer!
We will have our very own stall running from 10am until 4pm each day. Here you can sign up for your membership and meet the committee! Please do stop by and say hello!
Monday 3rd October 2011 – Our taster session! Come along to the Djanogly Recital Hall for some games, meet the committee and sing along with some opera chorus numbers! This will be followed by a trip to mooch afterwards! See you there!

Monday 30th January 2012 – First rehearsal of the Spring Term
21st-25th February- Opera North in Nottingham!- The wonderful Madama Butterfly by Puccini, Giulio Cesare by Handel and Bellini’s Norma will be performed in the Royal Centre.
(Provisional) Friday 2nd March 2012 – OpSoc presents- A Night Of 20th Century Opera!
(Provisional) Saturday 9th June- Sunday 10th June – Summer production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas!
Amongst this there will be our social events for OpSoc members, workshops from professionals and even a trip or two to the opera. Visit back regularly to find out what’s happening!

strong>6th June 2011-OpSoc and G&S Summer Ball- A Night In Havana!
4th and 5th June 2011 – OpSoc production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ in the Djanogly Recital Hall in the Department of Music at the University of Nottingham.
31st May and 3rd June 2011- Marriage of Figaro dress rehearsals
9th May 2011- First run-through of The Marriage of Figaro
26th March 2011- Principal workshop for Marriage of Figaro with Yvette Cummings
Friday 4th March 2011- Joint Lunch Time Concert with the University’s Gilbert and Sullivan Society. We will be performing a selection of arias and a few joint pieces with G&S. It promises to be a lot of fun, 1:15 in the Djanogly Recital Hall.
Tuesday 8th March 2011- Performance at the Women’s Centre 1:30-2. A selection of our female members will be performing songs that exemplify strong women in opera. Please get in touch with Becca if you are interested in performing.
Events 2010
Monday 28th February – Sitzproben! A full sing through of ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ with the entire cast. A long but exciting process.
22nd-24th February- Opera North Week
Friday 11th February – Workshop with the Orlando Consort, covering pieces from our Summer Opera, ‘The Marriage of Figaro’. The workshop was very successful and the Orlando’s were impressed with the calibre of the performance they saw.
Saturday 4th December – Opsoc’s Christmas Collage at St Peters Church, Nottingham. A clever ‘opera’ made up of songs from various composers and operas to create our own original story.
Friday 3rd December – OpSoc’s Christmas dinner at the Ropewalk. A three course Christmas dinner and much festive fun!
Friday 19th November – A number of OpSoc members visited Radford Care Group to perform a selection of arias.

Monday 7th June – OpSoc’s final event of the year, the Summer Ball, was a lovely culmination to a wonderful first year of OpSoc. It was joint with the G and S Society at Alea Casino in Nottingham, and included a 3-course meal and lots of interesting prizes!
5th-6th June 2010 - OpSoc’s first major production, Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute’, took place in the Djanogly Recital Hall, and was a huge success. Both nights sold out and the cast and crew were tremendous, creating a magical end to all our hard work. Congratulations to everyone who took part!
Tuesday 11th May – OpSoc lunchtime concert. It featured a chorus pieces, brilliant solos and a good ol’ Magic Flute ‘trailer’, getting you all ready for 5th – 6th June!
Sunday 28th March – OpSoc ran a charity run in Wollaton Park. 5km or 10km routes were completed. Many of the committee were involved in doing this. The official website can be found here
Wednesday 10th March 11.00am-4.00pm- Sarah Hibberd managed to secure us an Opera North ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’ workshop for OpSoc!
Monday 8th March- An all female performance for the Women’s Centre.
